INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Spendnsap (the “Service,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the confidentiality of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, store, and protect your data when you use our services through any interface (including our WhatsApp scanning feature, website/webapp, and any future integrations).

  1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

1.1 Personal Information

  • Phone Number: Used for account creation, secure login, communications, and to identify your user account. In certain cases (e.g., when you shop at participating retailers), your phone number may also be used to link your purchases to your Spendnsap account for automated reward disbursement.
  • Email Address: Collected during sign-up and/or account management. Used to send promotional emails, important product updates, and transactional notifications (e.g., account confirmations, password resets, etc.). You can opt out of promotional emails at any time (see Section 5.1).
  • Name Used to personalize your account experience.

 

1.2 Receipt Data and Scanned Images

  • Receipt Images: We collect and store images of purchase receipts submitted through WhatsApp scanning or uploaded to our mobile app and/or webapp.
  • OCR-Extracted Data: Using Optical Character Recognition (OCR), we detect and extract line-level items from the receipt, including:
  • Item Name
  • Item Quantity
  • Item Price
  • Brand Name
  • Retail Store Name
  • Date/Time of Purchase
  • Total Purchase Amount
  • Purpose: This data is used to (i) verify purchases for reward eligibility or expense tracking, and (ii) provide detailed spending reports to help you manage your finances.

1.3 Purchase Data (Non-Receipt)

  • Spending Habits & Trends: We may also collect data about payment types, frequency of purchases, categories of expenditures, and price changes over time.
  • Location Data: May include the general area where you live or shop, used to generate heat maps or localized insights. (We do not collect precise GPS location unless explicitly stated.)

 

1.4 POS Integration Data

  • When you make purchases at partnered retailers, their Point-of-Sale (POS) system may collect and share certain data (including your phone number) with us to automatically track and disburse rewards to your Spendnsap account.
  • Your phone number is used solely to link your purchases to your Spendnsap account and ensure accurate reward crediting. Retailers are contractually obligated to protect your information and restricted from using it for any other purposes without your explicit consent.

 

  1. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

2.1 Expense Management

  • To provide detailed financial tracking, reports, and insights.
  • To help you budget, plan, and monitor price changes on frequently purchased items.

2.2 Rewards and Loyalty

  • To grant rewards or loyalty points for verified purchases.
  • To automatically record rewards via POS integrations at participating retailers—using your phone number—without requiring additional scans.

2.3 Personalized Marketing and Promotions

  • Opt-In / Consent: We only send marketing communications or targeted promotions if you have explicitly opted in while registering with SpendSnap.
  • Targeted Campaigns: We partner with multiple brands, retailers, and restaurants to deliver relevant in-app or social media promotions based on your spending patterns. However, no personal details (like your name) are shared with these partners. Only aggregated or anonymized data, or a unique user identifier, is used for verifying eligibility and distributing offers.

2.4 Promotional Emails and Product Updates

  • If you provide your email address and opt in, we will send you promotional emails and updates on new features, products, or services related to Spendnsap. You can unsubscribe from these emails at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link in the email footer or by adjusting your email preferences in your account settings.

2.5 Research and Analytics

  • We generate insights from user data (e.g., consumer trends, brand performance) for internal use and to share with partner brands in aggregated or de-identified form.
  • This helps improve our Service, enhance user experience, and support data-driven decisions.

2.6 User Support and Communications

  • We use your phone number, email address, and other contact details to provide account support, address issues, and send important updates about your account or our policies.
  1. DATA SHARING PRACTICES

3.1 Third-Party Vendors & Brands

  • We may share aggregated or anonymized spending data with third-party vendors, brands, and research firms.
  • No personal information, such as your name or email, is disclosed to these external parties without your explicit consent.

3.2 Advertising Platforms

  • We may share limited, anonymized data with social media platforms (e.g., Meta/Facebook) strictly for advertising and audience targeting, ensuring secure data processing and compliance with platform policies.

3.3 POS Integrations

  • At participating retailers, we use the phone number you provide (or have on file with the retailer) to identify your Spendnsap account and validate eligible transactions.
  • Retailers do not receive any additional personal information from us beyond the data necessary to confirm a successful reward disbursement or purchase linkage.

3.4 Legal Obligations

  • We may disclose information if required by law or if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
  1. USER RIGHTS AND CONSENT

4.1 Opt-In for Marketing and Promotional Activities

  • During sign-up, we provide a separate consent statement allowing you to opt in to marketing communications. You can change these preferences at any time via your account settings or by contacting us.

4.2 Data Access and Modification

  • You have the right to access and review your personal data and receipt information at any time through your account dashboard.
  • If any information is incorrect, you can request corrections or make edits where enabled.

4.3 Account Deletion

  • You can delete your Spendnsap account at any time. Upon deletion, all personal information is permanently removed from our active systems, though residual copies may take some time to be purged from our backup systems.

5.1 Retention Duration

  • We intend to store personal data indefinitely (“forever”), unless you request deletion or unless applicable law requires otherwise.
  • Receipts, transaction records, and associated metadata remain in our databases as long as your account is active, ensuring you can track long-term spending trends.

5.2 Deletion Upon Request

  • If you choose to delete your account or request data erasure, we will remove your personal data from our active databases within a reasonable timeframe. Aggregated or anonymized data may be retained for analytics and reporting purposes.
  1. SECURITY MEASURES

6.1 Encryption

  • All data is encrypted during transmission (e.g., SSL/TLS) and at rest (e.g., server-side encryption).

6.2 Secure Servers

  • We store user information on reputable, access-controlled servers. We regularly review security procedures and perform necessary audits to protect your data.

6.3 Restricted Access

  • Only authorized personnel have access to user data, and they are bound by strict confidentiality obligations.
  1. COOKIES AND TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES

Currently, we do not use cookies on our primary platform. If in the future we implement cookies or similar technologies for analytics or personalization, we will update this policy accordingly and seek any required consent.

  1. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

We partner with payment services (e.g., Easy Paisa) and other fintech solutions for disbursement of rewards to our Pakistani user base. Only the data strictly needed for reward disbursement is shared, and it does not include your full personal details unless required to complete a financial transaction.

  1. DATA PROTECTION STANDARDS

While we are not currently subject to any specific privacy regulation mandates, we strive to align with key data protection standards such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) principles. These frameworks guide our approach to data minimization, security, and user rights.

  1. AGE RESTRICTIONS

Users must be at least 13 years old to use our services. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have inadvertently collected such information, we will promptly delete it.

  1. GEOGRAPHIC SCOPE AND FUTURE EXPANSION

Spendnsap currently operates in Pakistan. We do not transfer user data outside Pakistan unless it is through secure servers and compliant channels.

Potential Expansion: If we expand services to new regions, we will update our Privacy Policy to reflect any additional compliance or cross-border data transfer requirements.
